Graco Play Yard Review
Play yards, formally known as playpens, used to be raised enclosures surrounded by some kind of netting on all sides. A parent would simply place the baby inside the playpen with his or her favorite toys and the parent was free to move about the house. Nowadays, playpens have evolved into play yards and the Graco Play Yard is extremely popular among parents.
This brand of play yard comes in a plethora of styles, patterns, and models to fit all budgets and personal tastes. All these play yards are designed for young children who cannot climb their way out of the pen. All models are foldable, have padding, and a mesh enclosure. However, all top-of-the line models, such as the Pack and Play Crib, come with standard features such as a changing table, wheels for mobility, a carrying bag, a mobile or toy bar with toys, cubbies, push-button or squeeze latches for easy folding, and a bassinet for infants weighing less than 15 pounds. Other top styles come with additional cushioning, a canopy, and bumpers for comfort. There is almost no end what this play yard line has to offer.
The Graco Classic Play Yard, Element, and Silhouette all are designed with the standard features included in top models and they come in a variety of patterns. Some other play yards include twin bassinets, a newborn napper station complete with vibrating and removable bassinet, and there is one with a removable newborn rocking seat.
For the pampered baby there is the Modern Play Yard that not only includes the standard features, but also includes a vibrating system, an electronics unit, and a dome. For the no frills baby, there is the Folding Feet and Tot Bloc play yards. These are a very simple mesh and padding play yards.
With the exception of the Tot Bloc Play Yard, which is the largest model, these play yards tend to be small with little room for baby to move. It also takes some skill to fold them and place them inside their carrying bag. In addition, it is never recommended to leave an unattended baby, for all play yards carry the risk of serious injury to babies that are learning to crawl and climb.
On the other hand, there are plenty of reasons to choose a play yard. They are small and convenient enough to place anywhere in the house. They are foldable, which means they can also travel with your baby. They also provide a safe place for your little one to nap and play.
